8 Quick & Easy Kitchen Shortcuts
Clean and Sanitize Your Cutting Board
Use lemon and salt to clean your cutting board. Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle some salt on the board. Rub the lemon over the surface, squeezing out the juice as you go. This will sanitize and deodorize your board, as well as remove any stains.
Clean Appliances
Use a damp microfiber cloth to wipe down your appliances. This will remove any dust, fingerprints, and smudges without leaving any streaks or scratches. You can also use a little bit of dish soap for stubborn spots.
Clean the Microwave
Place a wet paper towel inside the microwave and heat it for a minute. The steam will loosen any food splatters and make them easy to wipe off with the same paper towel.
Or – put a bowl of water with lemon on high for 2 min and then wipe down the steamy inside.
Freshen and Unclog Drain
Use baking soda and vinegar to unclog your sink.
Just pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by a cup of vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes and then flush with hot water. This will dissolve any grease and food particles that are stuck in the pipes.
Sweeten Your Fridge
Baking soda isn’t the only thing that absorbs fridge smells. Place some coffee grounds in a small bowl or a filter and put it in your fridge. The coffee will absorb any unpleasant smells and leave your fridge smelling fresh.
While you’re there, dip a paper towel in water with vanilla extract and wipe down the refrigerator walls.
Clean the Dishwasher
That sounds silly, to clean the dishwasher, but just like the drain, the dishwasher needs freshening up, too. The next time you run it, but a cup of white vinegar in a glass in the utensil holder.
Blender Cleaning Shortcut
After you’re done with your smoothie, rinse out the pitcher, add some water and soap. Turn the blender on for a few seconds, rinse and VOILA! It’s all clean!
Freshen the Whole House
Maybe while you’re doing these other shortcuts, you can treat your household to some aromatherapy. Just simmer a pot of water with some oranges, lemon, or apple and cinnamon.
